OF CANTON, OHIO
Rotary brings together people like you - from all walks of life - who want to use their expertise for the good. People whose sense of responsibility inspires them to give back to their communities. At Rotary, we connect for good - and from lifelong friendships in the process.
Belonging to a Rotary Club provides members with an opportunity to give back to their communities and to connect with like-minded leaders and friends. People join Rotary for many reasons, including community involvement, personal development, professional networking, and camaraderie. But perhaps the most important benefit is the satisfaction you gain from making a real difference in your community and in the world.
The Rotary Club of Canton, Ohio officially was founded in 1915, 10 years after attorney Paul Harris and three friends launched Rotary International in Chicago. Our club's first preliminary organizational meeting was held at Bender's Restaurant on Nov. 11, 1914, with seven men in attendance.
Three more preliminary meetings were held at Bender's on Nov. 19, Nov. 27, and Dec. 10 of 1914, and the first regular meeting occurred Jan. 8, 1915. There were 36 charter members. The club's R.I. Charter number was 146.
Today the club is the second largest among 47 clubs in District 6650. Our membership is in the 170-180 range!
